FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the benefits of massage?

It’s been demonstrated many times that human touch is good for both mental and physical health and provides an enormous feeling of well-being.

Heart rate, respiration and blood pressure go down if they were elevated. Oxytocin production ramps up and adrenaline and cortisol levels decline dramatically, allowing very deep relaxation. Documented benefits over the long run are diverse, ranging from improvement in immune response and to improvement on a wide range of mental activities, like learning speed and exam performance.

All of this is assuming that the touch happens in a calm, safe, non-threatening context. The more trust the recipient has for the provider, the greater the benefit.

What does the treatment room look like?

The treatment room is dark, warm and moody with candles, Himalayan salt lamp and dim lights. We play soft and relaxing music; however, if you would prefer something different, we have alternative options or you can request your own music. If you prefer silence that is fine too, just let us know your preferences.

What happens during an appointment?

Appointments are usually ten minutes longer than the treatment time to ensure a relaxed and unhurried experience. We also reserve a minimum of 15 minutes between appointments to give time to prepare the room, change towels and make sure the room is perfect again for the next treatment.

On arrival you will be offered refreshments or hot drinks, a nice cup of coffee or tea, while we have a conversation about your treatment, what your motivation is and what you want to get out of it. This is a chance for you to ask any questions you might still have and allow you to relax and feel comfortable before the treatment begins.

When you are ready, we will show you the massage room. The therapist will leave to let you get change and get comfortable on the treatment table.

When the massage is complete, your therapist will prepare a hot towel with the gel of your choice among different options. Once you are ready and feel fresh, she will leave the room to allow you to get dressed. Still water and refreshment will be again offered to you. We always appreciate a feedback from our customers; feel free to tell us how you feel after the massage or if there is anything you would like to change next time you visit us.

What type of oil do you use?

We use unscented grape seed oil. If you have any preferences or allergies be sure let us know. We will be happy to obtain different oils if you need or prefer.

What should I do before a massage?

Bath or shower; have a warm bath or shower before arriving for a massage or you are welcome to freshen up when you arrive. As well as being confident that you feel fresh, a warm shower will help start the relaxation process.

Remove Jewellery; ideally remove all jewellery, both to avoid any damage but also to allow free movement during the massage.

Avoid stimulants; the treatment will not go ahead if we feel you are under the influence of drugs or excess alcohol.

What should I do after the massage?

You’ve had your massage and you should be feeling calm and relaxed. Here at some tips to help the benefits last as long as possible.

Drink water.! Massage releases toxins in your body and water is needed to help flush them out so skip the alcohol and caffeine after a massage and drink plenty of water.

Fuel the body. Have a snack to hand after the massage. Massage can speed up your circulatory and digestives systems and having something to eat can avoid you feeling light-headed.

Welcome emotions. With the relaxation and release that a massage can provide, it can be normal to want to let go of some emotional baggage too. You may feel elated or energised, but if you have been stressed or holding on to negative feelings for a while, as the barriers come down you may become emotional. This is perfectly normal, don’t fight it, allow it to happen. It can leave you feeling much better afterwards.

Book your next massage. Well, if it was good, why wouldn’t you want to do it again? book the next massage and give yourself something to look forward to….

What are the payment options?

Cash, card or bank transfer as you prefer. Google pay and Apple pay also available.

What if I need to cancel?

If you cannot make it on time is fine, just give us a call or text to rearrange your appointment.

However, as much as we respect your time, we do respect our therapist’s time, so if you do not show up, you do not call or text to cancel and you do not show any respect towards our therapists, unfortunately, we won’t be able to book you again.

Is there any parking around the spa?
